Approach

I utilize both a movement lens and systems lens for my work in safety and organizational development.

The movement lens helps me understand power and positionality as motive forces within organizations and a systems lens helps me map that power in relationships to history, meaning making and the organizational environment.

I give particular attention to methods that what we think of as “best practices” are informed by the logic of oppression and capital and seek to help clients build more liberatory tools to achieve their goals.

Relevant Experiences and Background

I have over 20 years of experience in organizing, having worked as a community, housing, labor and coalition organizer with different organizations in Colorado, Chicago and D.C. I also have over 15 years of experience as a facilitator. Both of these skills were honed in movement spaces as a co-instagator of the D.C chapter of BLM. I also co-founded a worker owned cooperative in which I spent 4 years working on organizational development and executive coaching as a consultant.

Why I Do This Work

I believe that a better, more just world and ways of being are possible in the here and now. I also believe that those was of being can often be more affected ways to meet our collective needs. To find these new ways of being and collaborating we need to experiment and think outside of the box. We need to explore where theory meets concrete human needs. I believe that the work of supporting people, organizations and networks in being more free is essential to the work of building liberation.
